Raw PET preforms are loaded into a bulk hopper, from where an automatic elevator and sorting system feeds them one-by-one onto the continuously rotating heating mandrels. The multi-zone infrared (IR) quartz lamp oven precisely and uniformly heats each preform from the outside, while rotating the preform on its axis to ensure 360-degree thermal consistency. Once the preform reaches the precise elastic temperature (typically 100-115°C), the PLC-controlled transfer system picks it up and places it into the blow mould. The mould clamps shut with high tonnage force, the stretch rod descends to mechanically pre-stretch the hot PET, and then 35-40 bar of high-pressure air completes the blowing process in under two seconds. The mould opens, the finished bottle is ejected, and the cycle immediately repeats.
Every aspect of this machine's operation is governed by an advanced Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) with a colour touch-screen Human-Machine Interface (HMI). Operators can store multiple production recipes for different bottle shapes and sizes. When you switch from a 500ml water bottle to a 1-Litre juice bottle, you simply load the saved recipe — the PLC automatically adjusts all heating zone temperatures, blowing pressure profiles, timing sequences, and stretch rod depths. The HMI also provides real-time production data, including output count, cycle time, and critical alarms for proactive maintenance, dramatically reducing costly downtime.
The quality of the final bottle is entirely dependent on how precisely the preform is heated. An unevenly heated preform will produce bottles with thin walls on one side and thick walls on the other — a critical defect that will cause bottle failures in the field. Our 2-cavity machine features a sophisticated multi-zone infrared heating oven with individually adjustable lamp power in each zone. This allows the creation of a custom 'heat profile' for any preform, ensuring the body is heated aggressively while the neck threads are protected by active cooling air, preserving the cap seal integrity for every single bottle.
